Made it to Caratunk after 15 mile day from Bald Mountain Brook Lean-to over Pleasant Pond Mountain. Tough hiking lots of rocks and roots especially hard on my feet today. I didn’t stop for lunch or normal rest breaks trying to make Caratunk before dark. The Kennebeck River shuttle is here and operates 9-11 am and 2-4 pm. Guy named David is paid by AT to take hikers across river in his canoe. His wife sets up at The crossing and sells cold drinks for a couple bucks. last night got Burger and fries at Northern Outdoors. Shuttle ride to Sterling Inn. Hot bath Advil neosporin real bed.
Resting Sunday. Six muffins banana bowl of fruit boiled egg coffee big glass of OJ glass of milk for breakfast. No church in Caratunk. Closest may be in a town 19 miles. Psalm 20 today for my 20th day of AT. Looks like I may have time for Psalms and Proverbs before Springer Mtn. Put my clothes in for wash and dry. Wearing clothes from the hiker clothes shelf. No phone signal in this town.
Schedule for Monday 9am Kennebec River shuttle via canoe complements of AT folks. Should be interesting. 37 miles and the Bigelows between here and Stratton.
